I need to find an obituary for my grand uncle, Benjamin F Lewis born
April 1
1849 in Indiana and died July 1, 1915 in Cass, Aberdeen, Ohio County,
Indiana. His wife when he died was Martha. I need this to prove family
relationships. I am hoping someone on this mailing list can tell me of
someone who can possibly look it up for me. I have tried several different
ways and have been unable to find anyone who can do it.
Thank you for your help,

I was in Rising Sun yesterday so I checked the July 1915 county paper, The Rising Sun
Recorder, but did not find an obit for Benjamin F. Lewis. This is what I found. July 9,
1915, Rising Sun Recorder, news from BASCOM: "Ben Lewis, aged 67 years, died at his
home July l. He leaves a wife and one son. The funeral was held Saturday morning, Rev.
Brown officiating. Burial at New Hope". And, in the news from NEW HOPE: "Rev.
W. E. Brown of Moores Hill was called here to preach the funeral for Benjamin Lewis who
was buried Saturday." and "Will and Jesse Lewis of Versailles attended the
funeral of their uncle, Ben Lewis, Saturday".
July 16, 1915, Rising Sun Recorder: News from PATE: "Mrs. Ben Lewis is
at the home of her son, Marion at this time."
I checked ahead in several issues thinking their might be an estate
settlement but saw nothing.
A book of Ohio County marriages shows: Benjamin F. Lewis married Nancy
C. Ake 26 August 1871, Book 1, Page 482.
Marion Lewis married Stella Bradley 8 Oct. 1898 Book 3, Page 48.
A book of Ohio County Cemeteries does not have any of the above Lewis
family names in the index.
There might be a death certificate for Benjamin F. Lewis at the Ohio
County Health Department with more information. The address is 117
Sixth Street, Rising Sun, IN 47040 Phone 812-438-2551
