Phyllis Raker had written:
You might want to visit the old German church that's there. They
have
some church books that go back
into the 1870"s. (Of course, they are written in German, but I have a
friend who is from Germany and very
fluent that can read the few I copied. Even in German you can recognize
the names.)
The guy I'm chasing was the church secretary at that time.
(You'll have to ask for directions -- the church is only a few block from
the court house.)
I would definatley be interested in visiting this church. I didn't know
that the building was still in excistance.
Does anyone have directions to this church and the name and phone number
etc?
I have found microfilm in the Lawrenceburg library (Dearborn Co IN) of a
church in Rising Sun named First Evangelical U.C.C. Also reference in my
ancestors obits to the German Reformed church. Would this church be the
one you are talking about Phyllis?
A couple years ago I had been told by the caretaker of the New Cemeterey
in Rising Sun that a German church and school stood near the New
cemetery, next to the German Cemetery that is located there. Were there
two seperate German churches?
Any input would be appreciated,
I am researching the KLAUSING and OSTING name of Ohio Co of whom were
part of the German Reform church. (I have recently found the Ostings
originated in Ripley Co)
