In looking through my files I found the following:
William Cochran was the ninth child in a family of ten children born to William and Ann
(Wade) Cochran on November 15, 1825 in the state of Pennsylvania.
When he was four years old, both his parents died within a week of one another of Yellow
Fever, leaving the ten children to be scattered here and there.
William was taken by his Aunt Sarah Wade, she dying in his ninth year then he was sent to
Ohio County, Indiana to live with his uncle and Aunt Sara Wade, where he had a good home
and education as was customary in those days.
They gave over the management of their farm to him in his twenty-first year. In four
years he had accumulated $1,000. In his twenty-fifth year he married Jane E. Starkey on
March 17, 1850. His uncle and aunt moving to another place leaving him to run the farm.
To his union seven children were born, two dying in infancy. (written in 1930 by Mamie
Carver).
Questions: Is William Cochran who married Jane Starkey related to my gr gr grandfather,
Enoch Cochran? Both have grandsons or gr grandsons named Dilver. Being an unusual
name it leads me to believe they may be related. I also found out Ann Wade had a
brother, James Wade. Is he the uncle that the children were sent to? Were there any
Guardianship papers filed in Ohio Co., IN.
I have also seen William who married Ann Wade's name as Thomas who died 25 Aug 1830
Tyrone Twp., Fayette Co., PA. I have also seen a marriage date of 1811 for William
Cochran and Ann Wade, and first child born in 1813. Any help would be appreciated.
