aware of an earlier version.

Dear Stan Mitchell,
Maybe you could contact Judge Mitchell at the courthouse. He'd probably
know.

Trying to find information on Effie BROWN who was in Ohio County Indiana from the time she married up to 1910 census where she is no longer there. She had 3 children, Benjamin, Hattie and Mattie from what I can read on the census records. I assume the girls married as I can no longer locate them. Benjamin appears to have married and stayed in Ohio County, Indiana. Would very much like help on this Brown family. If Effie died where is she buried? Thanks much.
According to the index of Ohio County Cemeteries by Dillon R. Dorrell, there
are 19 Cole and 28 Dennis burials in Ohio County.

I see you are doing research on a Cole of Ohio County. There is a Coles
Corner in OH county, where my ggrandfather William Van Buren Myers was married to
a Nancy Ann Dennis in 1850; the presiding minister was WVBMyers' uncle Henry
Surber, who was a Baptist Minister. I would be interested in info about Coles
in OH county, anything that might involve Henry Surber's church, the Dennis
line, etc. Thanks. B. Myers

Mattie Tompkins dau of William Tompkins and Josephine Lientz (Lentz) married Milton R. Cole. Is this the grandfather who had the half brothers? Don't get too excited, I don't know much about this family as it is not my direct line. Would like to add to my information so maybe we can share. I also research the Cole, Lentz, Pickett lines though have added nothing new in the past few years. Let's talk.

I don't know more about Armstrong. Lida or Lydia Scaggs is my great, great, great aunt... sister of my great grandmother, Susan Scaggs. Most of what I've found out about the Scaggs children is that they mostly died young. I think the family may have had TB.
I know nothing about the Collins except for the marriage which is only an educated guess, because there is no other Scaggs family on the 1860 census. After 1860, the mother, Mary Ann (Crowley) SCAGGS was in Whiteside Co., IL, the father, Riley SCAGGS was in Nebraska and I didn't catch up with any of the children until 1870s census.

Thanks so much for such a prompt reply. You have given me a clue. I will check Census for 1870 and 1880 for Armstrong and Lida (Scaggs) Collins. If this is the same man, and it probably is, they may have stayed in Indiana until his death. Unfortunately, the grave marker in Dearborn Co., IN, has no death date; it is a Civil War soldiers' marker.

I'm sorry to report that none of the names you mentioned are listed in Ohio
County Cemeteries by Dillon R. Dorrell. That book lists virtually every
legible headstone in Ohio County.

I am related to Armstrong R. Collins, son of Josiah and Ann (Wilson) Collins. Is he the one who married Lida SCAGGS? If so, do you know what happened to them? Did they stay in Indiana after their marriage in 1869?
Armstrong Collins was in the Civil War, 7th Ind Inf Volunteers, wounded at 2nd Bull Run. He is buried in the Wilson family graveyard on the Benjamin Wilson farm in Wash. Twp., Dearborn Co., across Laughery Creek from Ohio County.
Any information on this family would be greatly appreciated.

I'm seeking the date of death or cemetery information for Theodore Platt BURR or he could be Platt Theodore BURR. I believe he died late 1840's or early 1850 possibly near Rising Sun, Ohio County, Indiana. His wife Frances Elizabeth DANFORTH BURR married a second time to James F. KING on 6 May 1853 in Ohio County. Theodore and Frances had 2 daughters that got married in Ohio county, Ellen Celeste BURR to James S. JELLEY on 8 June 1847 and Mary Henrietta BURR to Marcus Watson LEWIS on 9 April 1857. Frances E. DANFORTH BURR was listed as a widow on the Rising Sun 1850 census. Thankyou.
