I am looking for Scott Cousins who might be connected with my GG Grandfather, John B. Scott. John B. Scott was born in Kentucky. He married Mary Hannah of Pennslyvania in Dearborn County, IN in 1838. Their children: Francis M., Harriet, Samuel H., John, Mary E., Martha. They were born in Rising Sun, IN, Ohio County. They were listed in Ohio Co. in 1850 Census. They later, around the 1860's had migrated to Daviess County, IN. to a town called Waco located in Daviess County.
I am hoping, someone can connect. I have not been able to find John B. Scott's parents, siblings, or cousins. I thought, he might have some kin in surounding counties.

The Ohio County Historical Society has binders of original newspapers from that era. They may be willing to check for obituaries around that date for a nominal fee. You can contact them at ohiocohist(a)seidata.com or 812 438-4915.
There are several Stewart burials recorded for Ohio County. If an obituary lists family members, OCHS also has an index of burials for Ohio County Cemeteries by Dillon R Dorrell, Sr.

Loretta,
Sorry it has taken me so long to reply to your message. I am not sure but the John Thomas McDowell you mention may be the brother of Eli McDowell. In our listing it just gives his name as Thomas McDowell. Eli and Thomas were both born in Rising Sun, Indiana and their father was Alexander McDowell born 1790 in Pennsylvania. We are not sure of the mother's name only that Alexander remarried a Lucinda Gibbons later on. His will is recorded in Switzerland County on March 27, 1878 and was dated on May 31, 1855. It only listed his daughter, Ann Mariah McDowell. Since she was the youngest she was apparently still at home. The law was that the will had to be filed within 15 days of death and so we can surmise he died somewhere between March 12th and the 27th in 1878. Unfortunately, since there were no birth certificates during the early years we have reached a block and are still trying for more information.
We do know that Eli came to Hardin County, Illinois in 1850 to purchase land because we have a copy of the land certificate listing him as from Switzerland County, Indiana and then in 1855 he purchase another section and was listed as being from Hardin County, Illinois. Hope this helps some.
Cheryl
I am looking for information on Mary Louisa McPherson. She married Isaac
Wilson Day in Illinois on August 17, 1871. She is listed as having been born
in Rising Sun, Indiana on June 28, 1854. I believe her parents were William
and Lucinda McPherson. She had several siblings including a brother Matthew,
who I believe was 4 years older than she was, and several younger siblings.
One of her sisters was named Emma. Louisa later married a man named Byerly.
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
