Welcome DeHoff
JONESVILLE, Mich. Welcome V. DeHoff, 104, of Jonesville and a former
longtime resident of Avilla, Ind., died Monday, Oct. 4, 2004, at
Hillsdale Community Health Center.
Mrs. DeHoff and her husband, Forrest, spent their entire married life on
the farm near Avilla where Forrest was born. It was an Indiana
Centennial Farm.
Following the death of her husband, she moved to Jonesville to be near
her family.
She was a lifetime member of Hopewell Presbyterian Church at Avilla
where she served in various capacities. The church was built on land
donated by the DeHoff family. She regularly attended the First
Presbyterian Church of Jonesville.
Mrs. DeHoff was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
She was born Sept. 15, 1900, in Noble County, Ind., to Joseph and Emma
(Hossinger) McCoy. On Oct. 23, 1920, she married Forrest DeHoff. He died
Sept. 22, 1987.
Surviving are two daughters, Maxine Suits of Jonesville and Donna and
the Rev. Nordan Murphy of West Milford, N.J.; a son and daughter-in-law,
Rev. Paul and Rosalyn DeHoff of Sleepy Hollow, N.Y.; 11 grandchildren;
24 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were a son-in-law, Owen Suits; a grandson; a
great-grandson; and three brothers.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Indiana time Friday at First Presbyterian
Church of Jonesville with the Rev. Gary Oliver officiating.
Calling will be one hour prior to services.
Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Indiana time at Hopewell Cemetery at Avilla.
