Craig and Vicki, I can add my family to the list of folks who migrated from
Ohio to Noble County, Indiana. Records indicate two Vanderford brothers
(and their wives), migrated from Ross and Vinton Counties in Ohio to Noble
County in the 1840s. Both were farmers. One was my great, great
grandfather (Austin Comer Vanderford). Maybe the migration had to do with
land opening up in Indiana.

No real question here, just an observation. There seems to have been a

of messages lately about familes that migrated from Richland/Morrow County
Ohio to Noble County, Indiana in the middle 1800s. My Blacksten/Blackstone
relative did the same thing. Was this a religious movement or were a lot
of these families related? I see that the Deffenbaugh and Portner families
moved about this time too. Any others. Any explanations?
Hi Craig,
We actually had a discussion on this a year or so back. We really didn't
end up with any conclusions.
The Deffenbaugh's are one of my collateral lines and they were the first of
my family (Algire) to move from Richland Co, Ohio to Noble Co, Indiana.
