Oh my, I have to put in my 2 cents too. Higginson Books in Salem, MA is a reputable book
store. The only thing they do is to take old, out of print books, after the copyrights
are over and they re-print that book for you. They print the book, that you just found in
the Library and it mentions your grandfather's family, say. You send the $$$ and then
they print the re-print for you. That is the way that I got a copy of History of Ashland
County, Ohio. I saw the book elsewhere and wanted a copy. In it is a bio. of Jacob
(Yung) Young and how he and some friends "came to this place, naming it Orange,
Ohio." He is from Hardy County, VA> Washington County,
PA>Orange,Ohio>Kendallville, IN. Kendallville is where my Kerr, Johnson &
Gilbert g-g-parents are buried in Lakeview Cem.
Had I not bought this book and skimmed it on a cold winter night I would not have
found out that John Chapman visited Jacob's home many times. Mr. Chapman is Johnny
Appleseed! Or about when Jacob was out hunting & there was such an impressive stellar
shower (1833) that he thought the world was coming to an end and he returned to his home
to be with his family. You have to see a book in print and want it as there is no return
unless they make a mistake.
I think the scam books are the one that tell you that they have a "Kerr"
book with every Kerr name in it and it generally sells for about $40.00. Well, yes it has
all the Kerr's in it because they have copied the country's telephone books and
that is what you receive. Powell's book in OR is supposed to be good too. With all
the very best, Mary Ehrler

Alternative point of view. Higgonson's books has been listed in some of the
scam notices on the internet. I would encourage anyone who is interested in
purchasing genealogy books on a family line to make sure of it authenticity.
I know that in Iowa they have been barred from soliciting by the attorney
general. They still do try to sneak through but tend to prey on the elderly.

Hi Everyone,
I am leaving this list, because my research in Noble Co., Indiana is
complete.
Again, I want to thank those of you who responded to my posts and helped me.
Before leaving, I want to pass this along. I found a tiny custom bookstore,
Higgins Books, in the Boston area.
http://www.higginsonbooks.com/
They have genealogy books, and list hundreds of surnames. Their books can be
genealogies or family histories or combinations. Their books can be ordered
in paperback or hard cover. Check out their surname lists.
They print these books to order, and it says to allow 6-8 weeks. However,
the 2 paperbacks I ordered, I just put a note saying I needed them in 2
weeks, and I got them in 2 weeks.
I hope this helps someone.
Best regards,
Ron Flynn
