Researchers:
I am looking to link my Washington Adams (1811-1863) with his proper
ancestors. All we know is that he was born in Ohio in 1811 and died in
Mount Carroll, IL in 1863.
Washington Adams was living in Lagrange county, Indiana in the early
1830s. He would have been in his early 20s at that time. One would
think that his parents might have been living in Lagrange County at that
same time. In 1832 Washington Adams married Laura Hill who was the
daughter of Dr. Moses Hill. That Hill family was from NY and Dr. Hill
was active in early Lagrange county development in the 1830s.
Washington Adams and his wife moved to Ligonier, IN before 1840 as their
daughter Mary J. Adams was born in Ligonier, IN in 1840. Their son
Moses was born there in 1842 and another daughter was born in 1846 in
Ligonier.
In 1853 the entire family moved to Mt. Carroll, IL where in 1861
daughter Mary J. married Andrew J. Christian. Washington Adams died in
1863 in Mt. Carroll, IL Most likely he is buried there but no grave
marker has been found. His widow Laura remarried a few years later.
Moses Adams married Mary E. Renshaw 18 Jul 1863 in Mt. Carroll, IL and
Martha Adams married Upton Ruthrauff 14 Sep 1868 in Mt. Carroll, IL
Does anyone have any information on my Washington Adams' ancestors?
Thank you for your help.
