No Blackstone in the 1882 History of Noble Co, but there is a large
Black family in Jefferson twp - next door to Albion. One of the sons of
this family is James M., born 1840 and moved with his parents from
Richland Co, OH to Noble Co, IN about 1853 - probably not your man! (you
never know, right?)
I see you have a David Wise who was a minister of the Church of the
Brethren. If you would like, I can check the Brethren Encyclopedia to
see what it may have about him. Send your request direct to me instead
of the list.

Hello all,
I am a new subscriber. I just found out my GG Grandfather died in
Albion, Noble Co., IN on 8 Mar 1908. His wife listed herself as a
widow in the 1880 census (living in Seneca Co. OH) - so does anyone
have any information on this mysterious man? Are there any county
history books that might contain an entry for James Martin Blackstone
(his name was also spelled Blacksten)? His wife was Mary Jane
Johnston and his parents were Jacob Clayton Blacksten and Mary H.
Cromer/Kramer Blacksten. He was born in Mansfield, Richland Co., OH
on 26 Dec 1834. I have some of his children listed but they wandered
off somewhere - maybe near their father?
Any information on this family would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
