I suggest you contact the Mooresville Quaker Meeting. They have older members who have
heard these tales. I could suggest one off list. There was a novel written about the
subject, and I can't recall the writer or title. I remember the Macy family was
written up as having a "station" as was the Simon Moon family. The popular view
was that the novel was based on fact. The old Moon house was torn down, and one local
resident thought there was space behind/beside the chimney that was a hiding place.
Another resource is the West Union Meeting. Legend persists that a group of unmarked
graves contains fleeing slaves. A few years ago current members showed where they think
the graves might be located.
One caution: no records exist that give proof of these claims, and some who study the
underground railroad movement in Indiana believe there was no activity in this part of the
state.
