There was no children's cemetery and no particular "pauper" cemetery.
Several of the larger cemeteries have extant records, including Hilldale,
which was considered the city cemetery of that time. There is a current
association with which holds records. I forget the name of their
superintendent, but I know someone who will recall. South Park cemetery has
a manager, a Mr Hartley who sells monuments locally. Their books would
likely be complete. The cemetery readings at the library may not include
all the unmarked graves, if Curtis's grave is unmarked.

Looking for information on James Davidson, born about 1812 married Abigail
Persons
in 1850 in Bartholomew County, Indiana. They had at least two
children Cicero and Ida. All were living in Martinsville, in the 1870
census. Cicero, Ida and Abigail were also living there in 1880 but Abigail
had a new surname Stitt, but no apparent husband, which leads on to believe
perhaps they both died between 1870 and 1880. Cicero had a son Hershall.

Couldn't find anything on the death of James. Abigail Davidson married
Elijah
Stitt in Morgan county on 21 Mar 1877, source is book C-1, page 407.
Elijah didn't last too long as he died on 25 April 1877 and is buried in the
Stitt-Maxwell Cemetery in Martinsville. Don

Thanks, James! It's Abigail that is my line, but her maiden name was
Persons.
That has got to be the hardest name to search for! The whole
family is around Indiana and Illinois from about 1823 - 1880 and then most
just disappear without a trace!

I have not heard of an IN Children's home in Martinsville.? We had a
county
farm, but I'm not sure when it closed .? I have not heard of their
books being extant.? Their cemtery location is?argued, and there are
probably no headstones.? Regarding Curtis's death date, check out the Morgan
County History and Genealogy Association cemetery database.? In the event he
had a headstone, he may have a reading in a Morgan County cemetery.?
Hardback binders of cemeteries in the county are at the Morgan County Public
Library.?
If/when you get a death date, you might find an obit by requesting it from
the same
library.? Check their website for the reference librarian.? You may
not get good cooperation from the Morgan County Health Department, which
wants only direct descendants to request? records.? You might get better
results from going to the Indiana Board of Health, which holds the same
information, if their policies are more flexible.
Some files of children who were wards of the state are available at the
Indiana
State Archives.? Some of their databases are in house, not on line
yet.? Hopefully one of these searches will yield results for you.

I'm looking for any info on a child, Curtis Kirkwood, taken by the board
of
Children's Guardians and sent to the Indiana Children's Home in
Martinsville. He was sent to a few foster homes and then died in the Home in
1909. Any idea where they might have buried him? I have his entire file but
it just says that he died. No indication as to what happened or where they
buried him. He was 14. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Scott

Sorry, I have no idea.? I checked to see if she is a member of MCHGA, for
whom I
have emails, but she is not.? Has she left her email at the library
for any reason?? Perhaps in a publication or other submission of records?

I think it would be at the library in Spencer, Owen Co, IN.? Or check a
website
called "Sweet Owen", owned by Debbie Jennings.
