Here is a little church history that could help to understand the difficulty in finding
records from churches that might no longer exist by a former name.
In 1939, 3 branches of the Methodist Church were reunited: The Methodist Episcopal, The
Methodist Episcopal South and The Methodist Protestant. In my small town in Oklahoma, The
Methodist Protestant Church closed and joined with what had been the Methodist Episcopal
Church in that town. They chose a new name, First Methodist Church, and the Methodist
Protestant records became a part of First Methodist.
In 1968, the Methodist Church and the United Brethren joined and the name became United
Methodist.
I found listings for two United Methodist Churches in Mooresville:
First United Methodist Church
4 E. Harrison St.
Mooresville, IN 46158
Centenary United Methodist Church
6153 E. Centenary Rd.
Mooresville, IN 46158
You might try contacting these churches to see if they know anything about the records
from a Calvary Methodist Protestant Church which had existed in Mooresville.
I checked the Indiana United Methodist Church Archives and the link I found relating to
Methodist Protestant Churches did not work. I'll try again another time to see if it
had any pertinent information.
