You all have been so helpful to me in the past. I was wondering if I could ask another
question to see if anyone has any ideas.
There was an Allen Taylor who moved to Morgan county Indiana from North Carolina in the
late 1830s. He married Louisa Lamb. In 1868 Morgan County realigned its boundaries and
gave Allen's land to Hendricks County.
Allen died in 1897 in Morgan County at his son's house. I feel like I have looked
everywhere to find out who Allen's parents or siblings were with no success. I have
found many records about him, but none that give me any sibling or parent info.
Unfortunately, Morgan County didn't keep death records till 1900.
Allen was buried in West Union Cemetery and his obituary indicates that Reverend Bray of
the friends preached at the church nearby at his funeral.
I have searched the following records (at minimum).
Census records (found him from 1840 to 1880)
Probate/will records (found them in hendricks county)
Deed records (found several deed records. Bought some of his land from his father-in-law)
Newspapers (found 2 obituaries)
Tax records (only have hendricks county)
Death records (hendricks county)
Marriage records (found marriage to Louisa)
Encyclopedia of American Quaker Genealogy, all volumes (only contains reference to son
William joining in early 1890s)
Guardianship records (found some when he was incapacitated)
Court records (found lawsuit against guardian)
Randolph County North Carolina birth, death, and probate, and deed records (his obituary
indicates he was born here in 1813) found nothing
Does anyone have any additional ideas of how I could figure out who his parents were? Does
anyone know if West Union Cemetery kept burial records that might list parents, and how
someone might obtain those records?
Thank you for anything you can tell me,
Ryan Cramer
