Among the numerous photographs I have inherited which I can't identify I have a
picture from my mother's things of a very attractive young lady. The photo is a
B&W portrait, professionally done in Indianapolis by H. P. Dexheimer. Judging by the
clothing and hair-do, I am guessing the time period to be late 20's or early 30's.
In that time period my mother had moved from Martinsville to Indianapolis and was sharing
an apartment with one Betty Coffey. This might be a picture of Betty. It is possible
this Betty Coffey was from Mahalasville, which is where my mother lived until 1916. In
this time period my mother worked at L. S. Ayres and the Wm. H. Block Company. No doubt
her friend also worked in the downtown Indianapolis area.
I would like to give this photo to a family member. If anyone recognizes these clues,
contact me off list. I do not have a web site, so I can't post the picture but I can
scan it and send it to prospective family.
