What is the best source of land records for Morgan County, IN? I would like to find where
my great-grandfather George Portis built his cabin about 1870. Also I;m searching for
information about the house he lived in on High Street in Brooklyn. Would those land
records reside in Martinsville, as the county seat? Or is there a better place to search
for them?
Also, what about recorded wills? George died in Morgan Co. and is buried in Bethel
Cemetery. Would I find records of wills in the courthouse in Martinsville? Any help
would be greatly appreciated.

I have not been to Martinsville, however have researched the land and
probate records at the Indiana State Library in Indianapolis and at the
Allen County Library (that was YEARS ago, so I don't know what they have).
You might want to check out the holdings of those libraries, especially if
you have other Indiana research to do.
