HOOSIER HAS LIVED DURING 7 GENERATIONS OF HIS FAMILY
BAINBRIDGE, Ind., Sept. 23 ---
George Vandergriff, 79, a retired farmer living near here, has lived
during seven generations of his family.
His great-grandfather, Elijah Vandergriff, came to this country from
Holland, and finally settled in Johnson county. When George was
fourteen years old, his great-grandfather died.
Samuel Vandergriff, Georges grandfather was born in Kentucky in 1816
going to Johnson county with his family, and later moving to Morgan
county.
Georges father, another Elijah Vandergriff, was born in Morgan county
in 1842.
George Vandergriff enters the picture at this point, having been born in
Morgan county in 1865. Later he moved to Johnson county.
Clarence Vandergriff, Georges son, was born in Johnson county in 1893.
Clarence later moved to Marion county, where he died two years ago.
Orville Vandergriff, Georges grandson was born in Marion county in
1916.
Richard Vandergriff, the great grandson, was born in Marion county in
1941.
Mr Vandergriff spends his time at his farm near here and visiting a
daughter in North Salem.
