Looking for information on the parents of Mary Greeson, b. Oct 29, 1820, Guilford Co., NC
died in Taylor County IA. Mary married John C. Ray (need his family also) in Morgan Co in
1839 (source is lost in too many moves). Here is some information from Census data.
In the 1840 census, I find Eli Greeson, John C. Ray and Adam Spoon within four stops by
the census taker. John Greeson is 18 stops prior to Adam Spoon. Jacob Greeson is seven
stops after and another John Greeson is the eighth stop after.
In 1850 Eli Greeson is HH 94, John Ray is HH91, Adam Spoon is HH96 and Madison Coble is HH
85. Eli is the on who married Sibby (Hornaday), John C. Ray married Mary Greeson, Adam
Spoon married Peggy (??) (Peggy is five years older, b. 1800, than Adam and I wonder if
this is not the Peggy Greeson that marrried David Spoon in 1820 and then married brother
Adam. Did David die in NC or Morgan Co., IN)
In 1850 the Madison Coble is married to Mary (HAGEY). Her mother, Elizabeth, is in the
Household.
In the 1850 census I find John Greeson, b. 1797 with wife Barbara, b. 1798 (Spoon,
probably) Son, William b. 1844, has bio in Morgan Co., Clay Twp that shows his parents to
be John and Barbara (Spoon) Greeson.
Jacob Greeson, b. 1794 with wife Catharine, 1797. in1850 census, Morgan, Monroe Twp. Is
this the Caty (Catharine Coble) that married Jacob Greeson in Guilford Co., NC on April
16, 1818?? This is the most likely fit for my Mary Greeson. Interesting that there is a
William Greeson, b 1814, Physician, in the household. Is this another brother to John and
Jacob or a nephew?
