I am researching the Irason TAYLOR (Jr.) family of Morgan Co., IN, and Edgar, Clark and
Coles Counties, IL.
Irason was born in 1813 in VA and died after 1880 (possibly in Coles Co., IL), or
after 1887 as "Bro I TAYLOR" is mentioned in the Clarksville Baptist Church
business minutes of the "Saturday before the 3rd Sunday in April 1887." He is
the son of Irason Taylor (Sr.) and Rosanna (maiden name?) of Maine (his parents' names
are on his 1879 marriage license, and Maine, according to the 1880 Coles Co., IL census).
Irason (1813) settled in the Martinsville, Morgan Co., IN area in the 1830s. He is
then enumerated in the 1840 census of Rives Co., MO (Roccena and maybe Caroline were born
in MO). He is in Morgan Co., Indiana in the 1850s, but is in Clark Co., IL in the later
1850s. He is enumerated in the 1860 and 1870 censuses of Clark County, IL, and in the 1880
census of Coles Co., IL.
Irason's first marriage was to Sinah Lucinda SEALS (SEALES, b. 1812 IN) on June
25, 1831, in Morgan County, IN. Their children were 1) William Harrison, b. 22 Jan 1832
IN, d. 29 Aug 1907 CO (married [1] Polly Ann STINE, [2] Sarah Elizabeth [Elizabeth P.]
ARMSTRONG), 2) Rachel, b. 25 Apr 1835 (IN), d. 11 Apr 1856 IN (married James HATLEY), 3)
unnamed son (John?), b. cir 1835-1840, 4) Caroline, b. 30 Aug 1838 MO or IN, d. 12 Jan
1929 IL (married Isaac SPARKS), 5) Roccena, b. 11 Jul 1843 MO, d. 11 Aug 1910 IL (married
[1] Francis M. ASHLEY, [2] William H. McFARLAND [McFARLING], [3] Nathaniel R. MOUNTJOY),
6) Francis M., b. 1846 IN, 7) Peter J. (James P.), b. 1850 IN, 8) Joseph, b. 1852 IN.
William TAYLOR and Sarah ARMSTRONG are my great grandparents.
Irason TAYLOR, Jr., 2nd (Mrs.?) Angeline REISINGER in IL 1864, and 3rd Mrs. Sarah Ann
(JACK) PARKER BRYANT in IL 1879.
Sinah L. SEALS' father was William W. SEALS and his probate record in the Edgar
County Courthouse in Paris, Illinois lists his children and some of his grandchildren. The
children of his deceased daughters, Sinah L. TAYLOR and Eliza Jane COOK, are mentioned in
the probate record. His great granddaughter Caroline HATLEY (TOURTILLOTT) is also
mentioned.
Does any of this have any meaning to anyone? Any help would be appreciated.
