County boundary changes can be very important in determining where our
ancestors
located. For instance, present day Morgan County is not the original
Morgan
County. Land west of Mill Creek was transferred by the Indiana
Legislature to
Putnam County and several sections of land in the northern part of
the
original
Morgan County were transferred to Hendricks County. If you are
searching
for
records for your ancestors in Putnam and Hendricks Counties and find
none--the
records they left behind may very well be recorded in Morgan County.
Also,
prior to the creation of Morgan County the area now included in
Morgan
County
was attached to Monroe County for legal and civil purposes.
