With that information, why not ask the Morgan County Recorder's office to look up and
mail you this information? Many public offices honor these requests, and this
Recorder's office is cooperative. Generally they write back on your SASE how much it
costs, and you send cash up front. In this instance, I think you can email and save days
and stamps.
There may be other filings relating to this suit. Check with the Morgan County Public
Library to see if there are entries on the court index around this date. Armed with dates
and page numbers, ask the Clerk's office for assistance. All of this is on microfilm
held by the county. If you don't get a response from a Clerk's office employee,
ask to speak with our new County Clerk, Peggy Mayfield.

A deed was filed and recorded on 19 February 1851, (Deed Book P,
page 16), as the result of a decree rendered on 06 March 1847 in
a suit brought by the Commissioners of Morgan County, Indiana
against the heirs of John Gray lists his heirs as follows:
"William Gray, John Gray, Allen Gray, Robert Gray, Martha Keedy,
Abraham Keedy, Mary Jackson, Andrew Jackson, Sarah Brown, Joseph
Brown, Margaret Riley, Logan Gray, Mary Gray, and Elizabeth Grayham."
Does anyone know what was behind this suit brought by the
Commissioners of Morgan County?
