Carin,
I remembered I have a list of microfilm at the library from a recent project by Morgan Co
History and Genealogy Association to cross reference some cataloging. I don't see
anything court-related that would help you, it's all probates and wills. The
microfilm department at the CourtHouse should have a complete set. Some Morgan County
records were sent by the county to the Indiana State Archives. I don't have a listing
of what those were but the ISA has a website. Everything they received is in a catalog
file. You need to know what is available where, and it's wise to start locating
records now.
The original books still may be in the Clerk's office, but they are difficult to
access. Not impossible, just hard to reach and no where to work in the tiny storage room.
MCHGA plans to ask Peggy Mayfield, our new Clerk, to attend a meeting to talk about her
job and issues important to genealogists.

Sharon,
Thank you very much for your answer.
This murder would have taken place between May 1897 and the time
that the
1900 census were taken in Morgan County. Do you know if
the library has
microfilm from this time period?
Carin
