I didn't check the list of newspapers available at the MCPL. Before 1904
the listings are sporadic. You should be able to view two microfilms of the
Martinsville Republican, jointly running from 2 Jan 1895 through June 1901.
The Franklin Democrat Weekly is also available through the same time period.
A true axe murder might be reported in other newspapers, such as the
Indianapolis ones of the day.

This incident involved Richard Wright, Richard's daughter Era Wright Riddle,
and "Doll" Judah, Era's brother-in-law.
