I am researching Ephraim WILCOX, born about 1810, Tennessee (per 1850 U.S. Census). He
married Mary who was born about 1813. They married about 1831 or so, probably still in
Tennessee. So far I have not found them in a specific location within Tennessee. They
had the following children: Sarah A., b. abt 1833 TN; David, b. abt 1836 TN; James, b. abt
1838 Indiana; Nancy E., b. abt 1841 IN; Semira?, b. abt 1843 IN; Jesse, b. 1845 Iowa; and
Alfred, b. abt 1847 Iowa.
They were in Richland Twp. Keokuk County, Iowa at the time of the 1850 census. The
Ephraim Wilcox family was in Morgan County, Indiana at the time of the 1840 U.S. census.
Guessing they were in the area from about 1837-1844. Aside from the 1840 census, are
there other resources that might contain information about the family in Morgan County?
They were there only 7 years or so, but three children were born there. I do not yet know
their religious affiliation.
I have a fair bit of data about Jesse's descendants, but not much yet about his
parents and siblings. The family later moved on to Nebraska, near Beatrice, in the SE
part of the state. Jesse (or Jessey) married Margaret A. BROWN. They lived just a bit
west of Beatrice, NE near Old Plymouth, Jefferson County, Nebraska. Anyone interested in
this family, please contact me off list. I am not subscribed to INMORGAN-L.
