I would say they were visiting a relative or friend.. and the census taker
wanted to be certain he counted them... bet they got paid by the amount of
people they counted.

Subject: Ancestors with a sense of humor
I was looking through the 1850 census of Morgan Co and discovered a
couple
of interesting entries. Following the posting of the census data, I do have
a serious question.
1850 Morgan Co Census
Jackson Twp, enumerated on 2 Nov 1850 by G Staffon(?)
Dwelling 762, Family 762
Stine, Andrew 39 M Farmer TN
Stine, Fanny 34 F NC
Stine, Mary A 11 F IN
Stine, John 7 or 9 M IN
Stine, Henry 5 IN
Stine, Susan C 2 IN
Stine, David 1 IN
Then, 4 days later
1850 Morgan Co Census
Jackson Twp, enumerated on 6 Nov 1850 by G Staffon(?)
Dwelling 771, Family 771
Pucket, Singleton 30 M Blacksmith NC
Pucket, Jame(?) 26 F IN
Pucket, James 5 M IN
Pucket, William 3 M IN
Stine, Andrew 35 M Farmer NC
Stine, Fanny 30 F NC
Stine, Mary 11 F IN
Stine, John 9 M IN
Stine, Henry 8 M IN
Stine, Catherine 6 F IN
Stine, David 2 M IN
What are the odds of two identical families being in the same township..
names
matching for all 7, if you assume that Susan C was Susan Catherine? I
think there was a bit of fun involved with this one..
Or am I wrong and there were really two Andrew Stine families? I know the
1860
census index for Morgan lists an Andrew and an Andrew, Jr. But that is
not the case with these two.
On a more serious note, does anyone have any records on this Stine family.
I am
looking a John as a possibility for my ancestor line. Any information
greatly appreciated.
