Have lost my place in this line but wanted to add my PAF notes.
I have Jackson Jordan named among residents of Morgan co in the 30's. And in the
poll tax of 1842. Lived in Hall Village, Gregg twp and is buried there, 3 Feb 1843.
Listed in 1840 census with wife (Mary Ann Burris) and children. They were married
December 29, 1831.
A Sarah Jordan who married Robert Hicks likely related and may have moved to Indiana
from NC, settling in Morgan county and Owen.
In 1850 census Mary Ann JORDAN has married John Brown and has 6 children, one Mary,
likely daughter of John Brown. Here she claims birth in Pennsylvania rather than Ohio.
In 1860 I thought she was the Mary Ann Weidner, widow of William Weidner in Wright
county, Missouri, but someone on this board has proven otherwise. And in fact I find a
paper showing a property conveyance to Mary Ann Weidner, widow of William Weidner,
deceased, May 2, 1855.
On 17 November, 1857 another paper refers to her as Mary WEIDNER, deceased, evidently a
property dispute between surviving sons.
I thought she was the daughter of Johnson Burris who was in Wright county Missouri as
early as 1840 and her sons seem to have joined him there. But later concluded he may have
been an uncle and guardian and Boweter BURRIS and Tabitha SUMNER were her parents.
Tabitha died early and Bowater married Bedy FOWLER, but he died early as well.
Welcome any response Joyce Curry
