The newspaper article came from the Morgan County Library, in Indiana. They only sent me
a portion of it, with a hand written note; 3 Jan 1936, see film for rest of article. I
need to see if they can send me the rest of the article, but I just haven't done it
yet.
The article is headed Charles A. Harryman writes interestingly of events during the Civil
War.
Charles apparrently sent a letter to the Reporter, it says that he is from Mooresville.
It says in the letter that Ella and Hattie Harryman were his (Charles) nieces. They were
the daughters of Elija and Emily Harryman. Elija was heart shot in the Rebellion.
Elija's wife Emily was left with a big family and no money. Charles states that he
thinks they lived on Mulberry street in Martinsville.
Emily was exempt from property tax because of her husbands war death.
Charles states that his father John W. Harryman, moved the family to his farm in Madison
twnshp. The family later moved to Indianapolis. One son, Bob, was murdered on Kentucky
ave., and was never solved.
Charles also mentions a brother named William that was killed in the Civil War. William
was sixteen and his father brought the body home. Charles remembers the casket and
uniform, he says that the uniform had been literally shot full of holes.
That is as far as the information that I have goes. I did not type it word for word. The
address for the Morgan County library is morglib(a)scican.net

They have several Harryman new articles there.
I hope this helps.
Do you by any chance have any information on a Rev. L. A. Harriman that was in charge of
the funeral services of Lydia Pauline Stotts, in May 1914?
