Well, if it's the wrong Winfield, information on his grandparents won't do me much
good. Although, how many Winfield S. Dukes can there really be in the same place? I
know, that was probably a stupid question. I'd love the information, thank you.
Maybe from there, I can connect everyone else.
Everything I have matches Hugh's son Winfield, except he could not have died in the
Civil War. Winfield Duke and Martha Wyatt married in Morgan County, Indiana in 1857. In
the 1860 Census they have one son, Manford - still in Morgan County, Indiana. In the 1870
Census, Winfield, Martha and Manford are in Crawford County, Illinois with other children,
Jane, Martha and Winfield. My John was born in 1872. Winfield's brother Allen is in
Crawford County, Illinois in 1880.
I haven't found a Civil War pension card for Winfield either, but I have for some of
the other Dukes. I guess I need to keep trying to find them in the 1880 Census. Any
suggestions?
Debbie
