Subject: [INMORGAN] SSA increases
Hello all,
I have had a few people write me with questions about the SSA.
The SSA is the Social Security Administration. An SS-5 is the application
our
ancestors filled out to obtain a Social Security Card. You can request a
copy of that application from the SSA. The cost is $7. Starting July 1st
however, they are increasing the fee to $27!!!!!!
To request a copy I usually go to
www.ancesrty.com and type in my
ancestor's name. When you find the name that is your ancestor's, you will
find all the way to the right "Request information" this will give you a
printable form to fill out with the Social Security number of that person.
To read about the increase go to
http://www.ssa.gov/foia/foia_guide.htm#_Toc517745431
Hope I cleared some of this up, Tracy
