Surname: Avery, Kent
-------------------------
Hello Ed,
I received my information of David Avery's children from a distant cousin
back in the very early 1980's. I will provide her name to you by e-mail,
you probably know her as she lives in Martinsville too.
I do not have Angeletta's date of birth or data on Joe Kent. Thanks for
their marriage date. I do have their children listed as: Charlotte Kent
1st married to: Joshua Ferran and that she divorced him 2nd marriage to:
Mr. Byroads. The Kent's other children: Barbara, Jane, Fran and James Kent.
This is all the information I have on Angeletta's family. I assume you
are related through James.
Do you know who Nancy Kemp's (b: 3/11/1806 d: 5/20/1843)parent were? Or
her brother and sister's ?
Yes, I was aware that David remarried a Rachel Kent, however I do not have
data on Rachel Kent or the year of their marriage, children, etc. Thanks
for the additional data. I believe my source may have the information and
back in the early 1980's I obtained so much information from her during
my visit and of course those were the days you hand wrote everything down
and then typed up later or ran to the library to xerox copy everything.
Thank goodness for computers, it makes our genealogy record keeping much
easier.
You mentioned you have quite a bit of information on John Avery and his
decendents. I would be very interested in your data on John Avery. The
1870 Morgan County Federal Census reflects that David Avery was born in
NC. Also there was maybe a misspelling of another relative or they spelled
their name different: Avory, George age 60 also born in NC and lived in
Jackson Township. I wonder if this was David's cousin? Also in the 1870
Census there was a Even Kemp age 78 born in NC who lived in Jackson Township.
In the 1790 Rowan Co, N.C. Federal Census there is a John Avery who listed
3 males in the catogorie of "16 years males and head of household", 3 males
"under 16", 2 females and 1 salve. According to some NC information, there
was a Col. Waightstill Avery, Sr. that most North Carolina Avery's are
related to. Maybe someday we will found a connection.
I've wonder what the connection is with a Daniel, Issac and Benjamin Avery
listed in the 1830 Indiana Census ? In 1820, Daniel is the only household
member and is in the age group of 26-44 years old, appears to be a manufacture.
Any information on the Avery's or Kemp's is most appreciated.
