Hello,
I'm researching my gggrandfather Francis Marion Coleman. His obituary says he was born December 19, 1849 in Indiana and I am guessing that it was Morgan County as my grandfather said that his father (Francis' son) had inherited some money and they had to go to Morgantown, IN to settle it. Also, he said that he had people who visited from time to time when he was a youth but he did not know who they were. Francis later moved to Elk City, Montgomery county, KS where he married Phebe Ellen Rich and they moved around and later ended up in Pana, Christian County, Illinois. This is all that I have gathered and would greatly appreciate any help. Thank You, Amy

My ancestors came to Morgan County Indiana in 1833. John Fowler and his brother Elvis and Elias came from North Carolina. They brought there famililes and purchased a lot of land in the area. They appear in the 1840 census. Elvis and Elias left in the late 1840's, but John stayed and you can find him in the 1850 census. John and his wife Milly had 16 children, they left Indiana in 1855, but two of their older sons stayed in Morgan County. Elvis and William Wesley stayed. You can find them and their families in Morgan County from 1860- to today. I hope this helps!

Mary (Mollie) Stafford, daughter of Grant and Fanny Gregory Stafford, married David C. Breedlove October 1856 in Urbana, Champaign County, Ohio according to Laurence A. Weaver, Jr. You should be able to reach him at lweaverj(a)tampabay.rr.com. Mollie & David had two daughters, Mary Frances and Sarah A. (Sallie). Mollie later married John W. Miller.
Scott W. Stafford was with brother Emmanuel in Urbana, Ohio in 1870. There is a marriage for Scott W. Stafford and Patia Breedlove in Morgan County, Indiana 10 September 1873. This is as much as I have on these children. Good Luck! Pat

Hello everyone,
Just a quick note to let you know that I am running behind with research requests from members on the RootsWeb Morgan County Message Board. We were on Spring Break last week, so I didn't get much time at the library. My 13 y/o son thinks Mom should entertain him with something fun and exciting during each day of Spring Break. And for some reason he doesn't think spending hours at the library is either fun or exciting! I think I'm finally caught up on the laundry and cleaning, so tomorrow I can get back to the library. If you're expecting copies or other research from me, I'm sorry for the delay.
Lisa

I am seeking any information on Duckworth's from Morgan County. My mother is Janis C. Duckworth and lived there from 1943 until 1951. She graduated from Martinsville H.S. in 1950. Her family is from Morgan County. Her mother is Zella Merle Scott Duckworth. Her father is Paul Duckworth. Her Stepfather was Howard Baker who had an Ice Business. Her aunt was Carrie Burgett who owned Burgett's Cigar Store on the square which later turned into Baker Sporting Goods (her mother and stepfather's store). Any information would be greatly appreciated.
