[INMORGAN] Richard re. Missing Out
by Camellia A. Hengstberger
Here!! Here!! Richard How right you are in everything you say here.
I have stopped sending any information at all (not one bit) unless the
person can give me some information on the family they are searching for
or working on.
I have found that in about 85% of the cases, I never hear from them again.
Those that I do hear from again, that tiny 15% are kind, sharing, and
warm people.
I used to send any and all information I have willingly in hopes of
helping others.
I *guess* I gave my permission to someone who did at least ask if it was
ok if she put my information in with her information. HOWEVER, I guess I
did not realize or did not understand that she was going to put it on
her OWN personal web page as part of her own for the most part.
I can not begin to imagine how much long hoped for information that I'd
been hopefully waiting for that I missed out on. I kept wondering why I
was getting no responses to all of the lists I had put my surnames on, etc.
Well!! it was because it was all on HER page with no possible link to
anyone ever finding ME. And was on the Rootsweb and LDS sites, along
with others, with no link at all to me.
I let her have both barrels, plus this info was not all that I had
personally found myself, but some was, after purchasing death and birth
certificates, marriage licenses, etc. Some was gathered by a cousin that
found me a few years ago that I never knew existed.
So, she put her information there (within my information).
She did remove some sensitive data, and did put a link to me on her page
with the information.
I don't know if people just don't think or what??
so, you might check those sites, too to see if any of your info has
turned up in searches like mine has!!
Again!! Great post, and you are so correct.
Happy Holidays to All!
