NEW SKYSCRAPER OF MONROE CO. STONE
Hoadley Company Wins Chicago Tribute Contract.
Stone for one of America's most remarkable buildings is to be furnished by
the J. Hoadley Stone Company of Bloomington.
This week the Hoadleys were awarded the contract to furnish all the stone
for the new $14,000,000 Tribune building in Chicago.
The Tribune building is regarded as an architectural marvel. The plans for
the newspaper building were accepted after competitive drawings were made by
architects in all parts of the world. The building is to be constructed in
front of the present Tribune building, opposite the Wrigley building on
All the stone for the Tribune building will be quarried in Monroe county and
sawed in the Hoadley mill in south Bloomington.
