RETURNS TO FIND HOME IN ASHES
Finding their home and all their household goods in one pile of ashes was
the scene that greeted the E. G. Whitted family yesterday when they returned
from town to what had been their home near Cross Roads church, west of town.
It was a new house located back from the road, and it was only occupied for
the first time the day before. How the fire started Mr. Whitted does not
know as no one seems to have seen the conflagration which must have been
before noon. It was a $1,200 cottage with $800 insurance on the house but
nothing on the contents. Mr. Whitted has been living in the southwest part
of town, and to add to his misfortune this morning received news of the
death of his father in Bedford.
