Miss Bernice Cox, primary teacher of the East End school, attended a teachers’ party at
Twelve Mile Friday night.
The monthly Brotherhood meeting will be held Tuesday evening, March 28, at the home of L V
Doud, with Viron Fouts, Wilbert Doud and Lorne Doud assisting.
The revival meetings will close here Sunday night. A group from Taylor university will be
here over the week-end to furnish special music and the sermon. The union Sunday School
will be at the M E church.
The Chili Alumni banquet will be held Saturday evening April 22 at the gym. The Baptist
Ladies’ Aid will serve the dinner.
The East End PTA will hold its monthly meeting Monday night at the East End school.
The students from Taylor University who were here over the week-end entertained at the
following homes: the boys were overnight guests Friday and Saturday of Mr. and Mrs.
Charles King. The girls were overnight guests of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Myers. They all
took dinner on Saturday with Mrs. Mahala Smith and Saturday evening were supper guests of
Rev. and Mrs. Golden. On Sunday they took dinner with Mr. and Mrs. Guy Kamp and Sunday
supper with Mr. and Mrs. Ora Working.
Those from Chili who attended inspection of the Macy and Gilead Eastern Star chapters at
Macy Thursday afternoon were Mesdames Charles King, H E Line, Noah Stoner, Harry Keim,
Harold Myers, Floyd Campbell, Harley Myers, Sam Beeler, Walter Myers, Charles Musselman,
Fred Early and Miss Edith Musselman.
A group from Chili gave the program at the Peru township Farm Bureau meeting at Ridgeview
Thursday night. Music was furnished by the German band consisting of Mis Merial Brown,
Howard Brown, Lewis Landes, Armond St. Jacques, Eugene Phillabaum and their leader, Jack
Brown. Jean and Jane Weishaar sang several solos, accompanied by Miss Bernice Cox and
vocal duets numbers were given by Rose Fisher and Miss Baldwin.
The Sophomore class of the Chili high school and their sponsor, Harvey Carey, had a party
at the gym Thursday night.
The seven and eighth grade students gave a party Friday afternoon in their room as a
surprise on their teacher, David Fouts, in honor of his birthday.
Mesdames Noah Stoner, Harold Myers, Walter Myers, Harry Keim, HE Line and Fred Early
attended inspection of the Peru Eastern Star chapter Thursday night.
The Better Homes club met Friday afternoon at the home of Mrs. L V Doud. The Denver Study
club members were guests, The afternoon program was as follows: vocal solos, Miss
Marguerite Keinr; business session and introduction of Study club members by Miss Hazel
Miller, of Denver, president of the Study club. Refreshments were in keeping with St.
Patrick’s day. Mrs. Dickson, Mrs. Frank Stoner and Mrs. Harley Myers assisted Mrs. Doud.
Mrs. Clyde Hull of Whitestown was the guest of her daughter, Miss Virginia Hull, at the
home of Mrs. Mahala Smith Friday and Saturday.
Mrs. Glenn Smith has been ill the past week.
Miss Bernice Livengood entertained her club last week at the home of her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. David Livengood. Those present were: Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Keim, Mr. and Mrs. William
Milam, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbert Doud, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Kotterman
and Miss Marguerite Keirn.
Miss Arlene Kotterman, a teacher at Plymouth, spent the week-end with her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Oren Kotterman.
