Mr. and Mrs. Max Myers are the parents of a son, whom they have named Curtis Grover. Mrs.
Myers was formerly Bette See.
Miss Mary LaVerne Conner was in Kokomo Monday evening to hear Rubinhoff, violinist, with
Frey and Braggiotti, pianists.
Miss Eileen Fisher has been confined to her home by illness.
Mr. and Mrs. Glen Rader had as callers Monday evening Mr. and Mrs. Ray McCandless of
Hutchinson, Kans.
Mr. and Mrs. John Keyes had as Sunday dinner guests, Mr. and Mrs. James Kimbrough and Mr.
and Mrs. Schaffer of Logansport.
Vashti chapter, Order of the Eastern Star had as its guest Thursday morning at 11 o’clock,
March 16, Mrs. Roy Miers, Greensburg, Grand Matron of Ind. Grand Chapter, who made the
visit to Mexico for the annual inspection of the chapter. The chapter room was decorated
with ferns and pussy willows and a frieze of blue with silver stars in the East. Worthy
Grand Matron was presented with a beautiful corsage on a big silver star with a gift
concealed. Mrs. Myrtle Dewart of Peru sang “You’re the Only Star in my Blue Heaven”.
Mrs. Charles Wolf of Peru, associate grand conductress and Mrs. John Nallott of Converse,
district deputies were escorted to the East and welcomed.
The baby dedication service was held in which Chester – Miller was dedicated to the
principles of the order. The Worthy Grand Matron, Mrs. Lyman Fri—local Worthy Matron and
Mrs. John Malott took part in this service. A gift was presented to the baby from the
chapter and a certificate from the Worthy Grand Matron. The inititation ceremony was
exemplified by the officers of Vashti chapter in which a mother and her two daughters
received the degrees of the order. Refreshments were served at the close of the meeting.
Miss Phyllis Plotner was a week-end guest of Miss Helene Murray at Galveston.

Otho Hartgrove and Alford Malott made a business trip to Galveston Monday.
Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Younce entertained Sunday with a birthday dinner for their son Larry.
Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Herman Whitesel and family and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Johnson.
David Bradley, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Bradley and daughter and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bradley
were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Asa Reynolds.
Rev. and Mrs. Garry Browne called at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Hartgrove and son
Sunday afternoon.
Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Elias Brock were Mr. and Mrs. Roy Brock and family and Mr.
and Mrs Chris Brock and children of Peru.
Mrs. Ernest Bradley and Delores Bunnell are ill.
Mrs. Riley Behny and son visited in Peru Saturday with her sister Mrs. Earl Jackson and
son Neal.
Martha Putnam, who is attending school at North Manchester, spent the weekend with her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Putnam.
Mr. and Mrs. Ora W Childers visited with Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bradley Thursday evening.
Mr. and Mrs. Weldon Worl and sons were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Carter Worl and
daughter Joan.
Walter Fiest of Grand Forks, N D and Mr. and Mrs. William Smith of Peru, visited at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bender Sunday afternoon,
Mesdames Eva Long, Hazel Bradley, Mary Ann Trueblood, Esther Landis, Nettie Newhouse,
Helen Whitesel, Lillian Shroyer, Mary K Shroyer and Ethel Behny of the Peoria Aid attended
a one o’clock luncheon Friday given by the Somerset Methodist Ladies Aid.
Mr. and mrs. E H Ward and grandson Jimmie, were dinner guests Sunday of Mr. and Mrs.
Walter Jackson.
Mrs. Homer Kirtlan received word of the serious illness of her son David Binkerd.
Mrs. Russell Zimmerman and daughter Lois, of Converse, and Mrs. James Malott and daughter
spent Tuesday with Mrs. Gertie Malott.
Mr. and Mrs. John Foust and son of Kokomo spent the weekend here.
Mrs. Elias Brock sustained a severe injury to her arm Saturday when she fell at her home.
