Pickering-Brown Nuptials Read
Mr. and Mrs. James H Brown of Franklin, announce the marriage of their daughter, Helen
May, a nurse of Peru, and Mr. Joseph Franklin Pickering of Lafayette son of Mr. and Mrs.
OR Pickering of Twelve Mile.
The wedding ceremony was performed at the Christian parsonage in Lafayette, Sunday
morning, with Rev. Doyle Mullen officiating at the single ring ceremony. Miss Helen Rueff
and Mr. Paul Yoke attended the couple.
The bride wore a navy blue ensemble with pink accessories and her flowers were pink and
blue sweet peas and pink rosebuds arranged in a corsage. Her maid of honor also wore a
navy ensemble and a corsage of roses.
After the wedding breakfast the couple left for a short honeymoon after which they will
take up residence in Lafayette where the bridegroom is an accountant in the office of the
Indiana Associated Telephone company. He attended the School of Business Administration
at Indiana University. Mrs. Pickering attended Indiana University’s School of Nursing and
also received training in Pennsylvania.

Patsy Ann Byers’ Birthday Party
Mrs. Harry Byers entertained Saturday afternoon at her home on East Eighth street with a
party in honor of her daughter, Patsy Ann, who celebrated her eighth birthday.
The color scheme of green and white was carried out in the delicious candies, ices and
cakes. Favors were given to the children who were:
Willadean Brook, carol Sue Chittem, Barbara Whitehaead, nancy and Patricia Kent, Jane
Walpe, Marilyn and Martina Vance, Luella Buck, Jane and Marcine Prine, Dochia Milligan,
Joan and Ella Louise Azbelle.
Mrs. Byers was assigned by Mrs. Fred Stecker, Sr. Mrs. Emma Powell and Mrs. John Azbelle.
Mr. and Mrs. Philip A Wassman spent Sunday in Huntington.

Birthday Party At Gustin Home
A lovely party was that held Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Emmitt gustin in honor of
the birthday of the former who was 85 years old.
AT 12 o’clock a delicious favorite dish dinner was served at a large table where two
birthday cakes were on display. Places were arranged for:

Marriage of Peru People in Mexico
A quiet wedding occurred at Mexico last Saturday evening when James Meeks of 112 West
Fifth street, and Mrs. Alma Gertrude Raber of 109 East Tenth street, both of Peru, were
united in marriage at the home of the bride’s mother, Mrs. Otto Scott. The Rev. JG Dodds,
pastor of the Mexico First Brethren church, performed the ceremony.
Those present besides the bride’s mother were Mr. Scott, Carl Scott, Adelaine Scott and
Miss Muriel Bernard. After Monday Mr. and Mrs. Meeks will be at home to their many friends
at 109 East Tenth street, Peru.
