Hi,
In this article, I noticed Thomas McClain, a barber, was involved in the
car/bike accident. This made me wonder if he could be my husband's
grandfather, Thomas McCain. He was a barber in Peru in 1939. I quickly
emailed my father-in-law, Carl McCain. He said his family lived at the
Washington Ave. address listed in the newspaper article but did not remember
the incident involving Louis Wilson.
Our last name is often misspelled as McClain so I figured it was just a
newspaper typo. I'm glad I followed up with Regine and my father-in-law to
clarify this detail. Now I know this story involves our family! If anyone
knows what might have happened to Louis after the accident please let
me know. I haven't been able to find out anything so far.
Again, thank you sooooo much Bruce & Regine for all of your hard work!!

The youth, son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Wilson, 484 West Fifth street, has a
fractured shoulder, broken nose and a possible skull fracture. His condition
was described as serious. The lad was first taken to the office of Dr John B
Berkebile and was later removed to the hospital in the Hammond-Jackson
ambulance.
The automobile was driven by Thomas McCain, 60, of 451 Washington avenue, a
