Swam at Charlotte beach as a kid, and Webster swimming was wonderful. When we had kids, we
went to Mendon Ponds, and here we have a pool at the clubhouse. People are not as friendly
as I would like. My spouse and I are not as able to keep up the house, so consequently the
move--I hope. The realtor has already gotten our price reduced by $5,000, and two years
ago the asking price would have been about $3,000 more.
We collected irons and trivets and considered them our stocks and bonds. Our $30,000 went
for $11,000 but I guess stockholders are in bad shape too.
Glad you kids are interested in your parents. We haven't talked to our son (in East
Roch.) for over a year. He has all the grandchildren.

I'm sure it is tough to sell right now ... it's that way everywhere!! We moved
from Charlotte about two years ago ... Central Indiana is quite a bit warmer than
Charlotte LOL ... we lived about 10 blocks from Lake Ontario ... Charlotte is a beach
town. Loved it there but in-laws are now in their 70s and a 12 hour drive is too long if
something happens and they need us ... 2.5 hours is MUCH better :-)
Best of luck to you getting that house sold so you can make your move to Utica!!

No, about five years ago we relocated to Lakeland, Florida. It is too hot here for me.
We're looking to relocate to the Masonic Care Community Accacia Village in Utica, NY,
but it is almost impossible to sell a house in Florida right now.

Do you currently live out there in Rochester?? We just moved to central Indiana from
Charlotte, NY. The cemetery Susan B. Anthony is in is a fantastic historical cemetery and
the guided tours are wonderful.

I worked on a Neighborhood History of the Susan B. Anthony Neighborhood for the City of
Rochester's centennial (150 years) and had access with a camera like you say to take
pictures of all kinds of photos and things. All approved by the City, so it was easier to
get the access.

I wonder if it's possible to use a digital camera to take photos of the pages and
then use the photos to perform the abstracts of the information. I wonder if that would be
allowed. My camera has a document setting for photographing papers. It works pretty well.
I don't live real close either but close enought that I can make trips but it would
take time.
Anyone have thoughts on that?

I, also, appreciate the posting of the obituaries and news items. I have been skimming
them - nothing so far on my family, but each one is about SOMEONE's family.
What also would be really appreciated if anyone lives in the Peru area and has the time,
is to extract from or index some of the old books in the 4th floor attic of the Miami
County Courthouse. I am in Fort Wayne, but had reason to go there in the fall and look for
a divorce record of an ancestor that took place in 1884. There is a goldmine of old books
up there that, to my knowledge, there is no access to by any other means than to go onsite
and search in person. These have not been filmed by the Family History
Library/Genealogical Society of Utah, I have found no indexes or abstracts to them at the
Allen County Public Library or the Family History Library in Salt Lake City. Some small
parts of them may have been abstracted in the older Miami County Genealogical
Society's newsletters, but I'm not even certain of that. These are primarily
civil, superior, probate, and other court records, as well as miscellaneous books, such as
a record of insanity cases for people who were hospitalized at the State Hospital at
Logansport, and other things. The staff is very helpful, but they don't have the time
to go up and do extensive searches in these records.
I'd love to be able to get some access to these for the general public at large, but
I'm too far away to go in regularly and abstract/index them.
