July 2, 1972Wapakoneta - Lewis Jones, 87, of 429 N Defiance, died at 3pm Saturday at Lima
Memorial Hospital where he was a patient for three days.Born Nov 30, 1884 in Columbia
City, IN he was the son of Lewis and Amanda KEMERY JONES. On January 2, 1913 he married
Katherine CHAMBERS who died in 1952.Surviving are six daughters, Mrs. VERDIN (Jacqueline),
Hamlin; Mrs. Robert (Lenora) McKANNA of 822 E Elm, Mrs. James (Mary) GREEN of 754 Oak, all
of Lima; Mrs. Harold (Joanna) BESS of Harker Heights, TX; Mrs. Walter (Betty) MELTER of
New Bremen and Mrs Harry (Nellie Mae) SPURLOCK of Rt 6; 12 grandchildren; and 19
great-grandchildren.He was retired maintenance man for Gramm Trailer Co.Services will be
1pm Wednesday in the Sifert Funeral Home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm Tuesday.

Looks like the Logansport Chronicle had an article about Myrtle Jones of South Bend
visiting her parents in Logansport on 13 May 1899 but they have removed the paper so
can't read itBut it would confirm they were in Cass County for a few years at
least...

Mrs Amanda Jones, maiden name Kemery (very often mis-spelled in a variety of ways) she is
supposed to have been buried in New Waverly on 9 april 1901. the informant was Frank Cook
