I found the WW1 service registration that my great uncle Wm. KOENIG Jr.
filled out in St. Louis 1917 & Wm. stated that he was born in Peru IN 1
Aug. 1888. I have checked the birth records of Miami County & he is not
listed. I have also checked Miami County for a marriage of his parents,
Wm. KOENIG & Bertha KULA & they are not listed. Wm. & Bertha were in St.
Louis July 1892 when their second child my grandfather Benno Henry KOENIG
was born. Wm. immigrated in 1880 & Bertha immigrated in 1882. I skimmed
through the 1880 Peru cenus yesterday & found 2 KOENIGS listed, neither of
them are Wm.
My first question is, was everyone required to register births, in Miami
Co. 1888?
My second question is, did the city have a seperate listing of births or
marriages?
My third question is, does anyone know of immigrants coming into Peru &
where would they have been in the US before coming to Peru.
My fourth question is, are there city directories or tax records for Peru
for the time period of 1880-1892?
One more question, are there naturalization papers in Miami Co. or Peru
city that I could check for Wm. & Bertha?
I really would appreciate any information on Miami County or Peru in this
time period. Thank you very much.
