Barb,
I do have a Benjamin Enyart that married Sarah Miller. I hope some of this
will help you. I only wish I had all the missing info filled in, but some will
probably never be filled in. If you have any further info on the children of
Benjamin and Sarah, I would appreciate learning of it. Linda
Here's what I have:
Benjamin Enyart: born 4 August 1786 in New Jersey
married Sarah Miller on 7 April 1818 in Butler Co., Ohio
died 4 November 1845 in Logansport, Cass Co., Indiana
father: Samuel Enyart: born 4 August 1765 in New Jersey

died 2 February 1834 in Hamilton Co., Ohio

mother: Anna Lewis: born 11 Feb. 1771 in Somerset Co., N.
J.
died 21 July 1852 in Hamilton, Ohio
buried at Union Cemetery in Hamilton, Ohio
Benjamin and Sarah also had a daughter Lovina born 16 June 1826 in Ohio. She
married Asbery Barnett on 2 May 1844.
Samuel Enyart: born 4 August 1765 in New Jersey
married Anna Lewis in 1785 in New Jersey
died 2 February 1834 in Hamilton County, Ohio
buried at Union Cemetery in Hamilton County, Ohio
son of Benjamin Enyart and Johanna Tombs
Anna Lewis: born 11 February 1771 in Somerset, New Jersey
died 21 July 1852 in Hamilton County, Ohio
buried at Union Cemetery in Hamilton County, Ohio
Benjamin Enyart: born 28 May 1741 in Woodbridge, Middlesex Co., N. J.
married Johanna Tombs in 1764 in New Jersey
died 7 January 1818 in Butler County, Ohio
buried at Post Town, Butler County, Ohio
son of John Inyard and Mary (Pieterson) Darlin
Johanna Tombs: born 29 February 1747 in New Jersey
died 1808 in Butler County, Ohio
buried in Post Town, Butler Co., Ohio
John Inyard: born 1685 in Staten Island, New York
married Mary (Pieterson) Darlin in 1711
died May 1749 in Woodbridge, Middlesex Co., New Jersey
son of Yellis Enyart and Elsje (Alice) Van Woggelum
Mary (Pieterson) Darlin: born 1687 in Woodbridge, Middlesex Co., N. J.
Yellis Ingart: born 1 February 1652 in Flanders of Holland
died 11 March 1707 in Richmond County, New York
son of Carel Enjart born 26 June 1625 in Flanders of Holland
Elsje (Alice) VanWoggelum: born 1665 in Brooklyn, New York
died 1698 in Staten Island, New York
Carel Enjart was one of that large company of Flemings, who from time to time,
found their way to the New Netherlands, the new country of America. On 17 April
1664 the ship "DeEndracht" meaning "The Concord" was about to sail to
New
Amsterdam, New York under Captain Jan Bergen. Among her 38 passengers were Carel
Enjary from Flanders, his wife, a 12 year old son, and 8 year old son and a six
year old daughter. The DeEndracht arrived in New Amsterdam in August 1644 and
was the last ship sent out with colonists from Holland before the conquest by
the British.
Carel Enjart and his family settled on Staten Island which is now Richmond
County, New York. As the civil and ecclesiastical records are missing, it is
somewhat doubtful if anything else concerning them will come to light. It is
presumed that he and his family spent the rest of their lives on Staten Island
and died there.
The name Enyart/Enyeart is of Dutch or Flemish origin and means "in the
garden". It has been subject to a great number of different spellings over the
years but was probably originally "Ingard" or "Endard"
