Hello,
I just subscribed to the mailing list. Here is my situation... We have been
searching for my husband's grandfather, and know very little information
about him. We have no birthdate, and do not know his parent's names. What
we do know is his name, Robert Warren Smith. We found divorce papers for him
and my husband's grandmother, Mary Marie Bucks in Chicago, IL. In the
divorce papers, it indicated they were married on December 27, 1937 in Peru,
Indiana. The problem is this: the courthouse for Miami county has no record
of this marriage, and suggested they could have been married in Peru, but
obtained their marriage license in another county. My search of all the
surrounding counties produced no results. His wife, Mary Marie Bucks, was
from Cass county, who also has no marriage record for them. We don't even
know for sure that Robert Warren Smith was from Miami county, but wonder why
they may have chosen to get married in Peru. We believe he was born around
1914. Does anyone have any other suggestions for finding this marriage
record? Thanks for listening.
Natalie Smith
