Hi Nancy,
Were any of your HAYES named Catherine, Ed, Marguerite or Mildred?

Thank you for subscribing to the Miami County, Indiana mailing list.
Please take a moment to introduce yourself and tell what surnames you are
researching.
For myself, I am researching several Miami County, Indiana families.
My
POWELL family goes back to ENOCH B. POWELL who came to Miami County
about
1845 from Logan County, Ohio. Enoch's son, JOHN HARTLEY POWELL (my
great-grandfather) married LAURA ANN SUTTON, the daughter of DANIEL and
MARY
SUTTON. John's son, CHARLES HARTLEY POWELL was my grandfather
who spent
his entire life in Miami County.
On my mother's side, my grandfather was HERMAN MURPHY, the son of
EDWARD
MURPHY and ELLA ECKELBARGER. I know very little of this side of my
family,
but I have been collecting ECKELBARGER information which I am happy
to
share.
Other related names are HAYES and ALDREDGE although they did not come
from Virginia to Miami County until almost the turn of the century.
Allied
family names include CASE, CONRAD, KRIEG, LUTZ, MOORE, REIBLY,
WALTERS
and
ZEGAFUSE. I am also interested in the names CLAYTON, DEWEY,
ELSHIRE,
GOODRICH, MAST and PITTS.
Although I currently live in Miami, Florida, I was born in Miami
County,
Indiana and spent much of my childhood there.
Also, I have the 1850 census on CD Rom and a transcription on the
1860
census, plus I have the microfilms of the WPA Birth Index, Death
Index,
Marriage Records and Voter Enumeration lists. If I can do a look-up
from
these sources for anyone, just ask through the mailing list and
I'll be
happy to do so.
Hope to hear from you soon.
