I was just at the Ft. Wayne Library a couple weeks ago and it is fabulous.
They have a parking lot under the library that you can take an elevator or
stairs up to the first floor, you will then walk across that floor to
another evevator to the second floor to the research room. We were also told
there was a cafe, but we did not eat at the cafe, so can't tell you how the
food is, but it will sure be handy for someone doing research, since they
are open from 9-9 during the week. Not sure of the weekend hours. They have
rows and rows of books from every state in the country. Just ask the people
at the information desk when you first walk in to show you around. They have
carts you can fill with books, go to a table and do your research, then you
can put the books on the end of a shelve that is a brown color, and fill the
cart again with more books. Someone comes by and replaces the books you have
looked at. We loved it, Diana & Jay Trivett

Subject: [INMIAMI] HAKINS/DAVIDSON
Two years ago I was fortunate enough to attend a conference in
Indianapolis, IN. After that conference I extended my stay and drove to
Peru, Miami, IN and stayed nearly a week researching my husband's family.
The people there were wonderful and very helpful. I was researching the
family, HAKINS including George and Abigail "Jane" and their children Thomas
W., Victoria, Julia, Viola, Ida Marie, and George "Albert", as well as
Jane's brothers, Stephen, John and Lanson DAVIDSON. I have another chance
to do research in Indiana as I will be attending a conference in Chicago,
IL. Can you please tell me about the Ft. Wayne Library (I realize it is not
in Miami county)? I did not have time to visit there before, but plan to do
so this trip, if the stay is not too expensive. What can be found there?
What should I plan to find? Does it have information other than INDIANA? I
have gone to the website, but find it hard to manuver. Anyone able to give
me some information on
this library? Do you have any information on the HAKINS family? I
found
DAVIDSON people in the newspapers for Miami county, but how do I find out if
they are related to the DAVISON's in my HAKINS family? Thank you all for
any help you can give me!!
Judy Hakins
