Thanks for telling me Sandra!
You make the efforts all worthwhile!
I will keep them in mind, I was pretty sure it was JACKSON but since the paper was
missing letters, I didn't want to assume.
Have you checked the USGenweb for the county in North Carolina where the family was
from? Something is bound to turn up!
Thank You for encouraging me to pursue this work!
Hopefully more people will get involved and we could make the old obits available online
for everyone!
I was talking to Debby about this and we thought it would be a good idea to coordinate
the work so we don't duplicate each other's efforts.
The Peru Public Library has the old newspapers on microfilms. I pulled up the first on
for the Peru Republican. If someone else would like to do the same, maybe they could do
the second reel, or start another newspaper...
Let me know and maybe we could figure out a better, more effective way of coordinating
this project.
What do you say, Miami Co residents?

Bruce and Regine,
Thank you so much for the obit on John M. Jackson, the "Old Fallen Citizen"
He was my ggggrandfather. I have his will probated February 13, 1868 so I
feel sure this is the correct John Jackson from North Carolina. Now if I
could just find his father!! He married Mehetable Jackson in Pasquotank, NC
in 1816. Children named in will are Ambrose, Mary Ann (Sinks), Eleanor
(Parcels), John M. Jackson, and Zachariah. Please contact me if you have
information on John or Mehetable's parents in North Carolina.
