If anyone knows the following McGuire could you please contact me. It seems
there may have been two William J. McGuire in the area at the same time but
must have been two different people. I will be more than happy to share a
copy of this article that includes a picture of William although the eyes
are not able to be seen for his military hat.

LOCAL TEST PILOT KILLED IN FLORIDA

Capt William J. McGuire of Indianapolis, a test pilot in the Army near
Jacksonville, FL, while making a test flight, in a new model helicopter also
was killed.
Capt. McGuire, who was 22 years old, was the husband of Mrs. Wanda Carter
McGuire, 2960 Broadway, and the son of Mr. and Mrs. J.F. McGuire, 1040
Fairfield Ave.
Capt. McGuire, who enlisted in the Army Air Forces in January, 1942, had
been a test pilot since completing helicopter training at Freeman field,
Seymour, in August, 1944. He previously had served a year and one half as
flying instructor.
Before he entered the Army Air Forces he was employed by Allison Division of
General Motors Corporation and attended the Indiana University extension
center. He was a graduate of Shortridge High School.
Funeral arrangements have not been completed. Besides the parents and widow
a sister, Miss Marilyn McGuire of the Fairfield avenue address also
survives.
