This obituary was in my father's possessions but is unrelated to our family. My
father was born and rasied in Bunker Hill. Therefore I am retyping and posting it here.
There is no clue on the clipping as to what newspaper it came from, but the headline is

MARION STARKEY
Marion L. "Shammy" Starkey, 87, Bunker Hill, died at 3:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct.
21, 1982 at Kokomo St. Joseph Hospital, after a long illness.
He was born in Bunker Hill on July 16, 1895, the son of James and Mahala Robertson
Starkey. In 1917, he married Evelyn Gladys Shope, and she died in 1932. In 1933 he
married Louise Rains, and she survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Judy Golitko, Bunker Hill; eight sons, Gene and Max, both
of Peru, James and Ronald, both of Bunker Hill, Ralph of Kokomo, Dale of Cassville, Robert
of Ortonville, MN, and the Rev. M. Sandy of South Haven, Mich.; 27 grandchildren; three
stepgrandchildren;15 great-grandchildren; and five stepgreat-grandchildren.
A son, daughter, sister and brother are deceased.
Mr. Starkey operated a beekeeping business in Bunker Hill for 30 years. In 1960, he
retired from the Nickel Plate Railroad after 35 years employment.
He was a charter member of the Pipe Creek Twp. Volunteer Fire Department, and a member of
the Bunker Hill First Baptist Church, Fishing Club of America and Redman's Lodge of
Miami.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, 1982, at the Allen Funeral Home in Bunker
Hill, the Rev. M. Sandy Starkey and the Rev. John Honeay officiating. Burial was in
Sprindale Cemetery.
