M. Janit (Warder) Qualio, 88, Lafayette, passed away at 11:45 p.m.
Wednesday, April 6, 2005 at the residence of her daughter, Roseanna Hatke,
Lafayette.
She was born Jan. 31, 1917 in Tipton. She moved to Peru as a child and had
resided in Lafayette since 1958. She married John M. Qualio Sr. in Peru in
1949, and he preceded her in death March 23, 2004.
Mrs. Qualio was a member of St. Mary Cathedral, the Rosary and Altar Society
and Ladies Charity.
She is survived by two daughters, Sharon Powers and husband Bill, and
Roseanna Hatke and husband Gene, all of Lafayette; one son, John M. Qualio
Jr. and wife Cathy, Lafayette; 10 grandchildren and seven
great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband she was preceded in death by a son, Phillip W. Qualio.
Friends may call at St. Mary's Cathedral from 9 until funeral Mass at 10
a.m. Saturday, with Father Ambrose Ziegler officiating. Interment will be at
St. Mary's Cemetery. Friends may best express sympathy with memorials to
Lafayette Central Catholic Jr. Sr. High School or St. Elizabeth Hospice.

Velma Rautenkranz, 89

Velma Rautenkranz, 89, Coweta, Okla., formerly of Mexico, passed away
Wednesday, April 6, 2005 at her granddaughter's residence in Broken Arrow,
Okla.
She was born Sept. 2, 1915 in Peru to Thaddeus H. and Amy C. York Hopper.
She married Carl Rautenkranz Oct. 21, 1950 at First Christian Church, Peru,
and he preceded her in death July 5, 1978.
Rautenkranz graduated from Peru High School, was a retired beautician and
dog groomer and a member of First Christian Church, Peru. She enjoyed
playing the piano and organ, loved animals and and supported and worked with
the Humane Society in Oklahoma.
Survivors include a step-son, A. Dean Rautenkranz, Naples, Fla.; a
step-daughter, Julia Hines, Athens, Ga.; a granddaughter, Cynthia Powell and
husband David, Broken Arrow, Okla.; and two great-grandchildren, Jason and
Kara Powell, Broken Arrow, Okla.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Marie
Matthews Taylor, on Jan. 20, 2005; a brother, Alva M. Hopper; and a sister,
Bernice Mohr.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, with
the Rev. George McCarty officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery,
Mexico. Visitation will be after 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
