Thelma E. Lees, 86, Peru, passed away at 12:15 a.m. Monday, April 4, 2005 at
Miller's Merry Manor, Peru.
She was born July 20, 1918 in Miami County to Frank and Dora Easter Cress.
She married Millard A. Lees in 1938, and he preceded her in death in 1980.
She was formerly employed at Gateway School, Peru, and was a member of
Oakdale Baptist Church, Oakdale Homemic Club and the Grandmothers Club
Survivors include a son, William A. Lees, Peru; two daughters, Carmen Wren,
Peru, and Renee Edinger and husband Tom, Surprise, Ariz.; a sister, Marjorie
Pickens, South Bend; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and four
great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Alan Lees; three
brothers, Carl, Roger and Wayne Cress; and a sister, Arlene Binkerd.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, Peru,
with Dr. Robert Stuck officiating. Burial will be in Skinner Chapel
Cemetery, Cass County. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the
funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Oakdale Baptist
Church.
Charles F. Hale, 75

Charles F. Hale, 75, Peru, passed away at 6:50 p.m. Sunday, April 3, 2005 at
Dukes Memorial Hospital.
A private funeral service is planned, but there will be no visitation.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, Peru.
Monyeen M. Davenport, 81

Monyeen M. Davenport, 81, LaFontaine, passed away at 4:45 a.m. Monday, April
4, 2005 at Rolling Meadows Healthcare Center.
She was born May 15, 1923 in Miami County to Lamoine and Isabelle Binkard
Johnson. She married Galen O. Davenport Sept. 23, 1944, and he survives.
Davenport worked at the Wabash Plain Dealer, at the shirtshed in Wabash and
was a colorist for a photographer. She also was a member of the Navy Waves,
the Woodlawn United Methodist Church in Somerset, formerly Mississinewa Home
Economics, Eastern Star in Converse and several art clubs; taught all
children's Sunday School classes at Woodlawn Methodist; and enjoyed
gardening and oil painting.
Survivors besides her husband include two daughters, Rita Looker and husband
Harry, Clarksburg, W. Va., and Ruth Ann Pilgrim and husband Steven, Wabash;
two brothers, Jack Johnson and wife Becky, Peru, and Richard Johnson,
Converse; five grandchildren, Valerie Blurton, Boyds, Mass., Michael Looker,
Cumberland, Mass., Matthew Looker, Elsmere, Ky., Lisa Laskowski, South Bend,
and Emily Boardman, Indianapolis; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Marcia Serra; and a
grandson, Jeffrey Looker.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at McDonald Funeral Home, LaFontaine
Chapel, 104 S. Main St., LaFontaine, with Don Miller officiating. Burial
will be in Gardens of Memory, Huntington County. Calling will be from 4 to 8
p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Rolling Meadows
Healthcare Center Good Shepherd Wing in care of the funeral home.
